Individual Services

There are many reasons people come for counselling. Sometimes they are not even sure what they need. The thought of counselling can be intimidating, especially if you do not know what to expect or if you have had a bad experience. I encourage you to come as you are, and we can take it from there.

I usually work with individuals and couples over 18 years old, but I am open to seeing youth.

I offer a free 30-minute consultation so you can learn what to expect and feel if I’m a good fit for you. Together we’ll explore your situation, your story, and come up with our goals. We can adjust these goals as necessary through the process.

If you decide to work with me, we’ll decide together how frequently we’ll meet. It may be every week for a set time, once or twice a month, or it may only be once. It’s up to you. Each subsequent session will be 55 minutes.

I have training in several counselling approaches, but I don’t work solely from one framework. I draw from each as I see fit. Often the most important part of counselling is the trusting relationship I form with each client over time.

Some people find it important to know that I am a Christian. I love Jesus and I aim to treat people with the dignity and compassion he modeled. This does not mean you have to be a Christian to see me—I welcome people of all spiritual backgrounds and will respect your beliefs.

Couples Services

Marriage is not easy.

Just as we take our cars to the mechanic every now and then, marriages can benefit greatly from coming to couple’s counselling.

My heart is for relationship, and it would be my privilege to walk alongside you during rocky times. I have many tools to help you work through things together. If you are willing to put in the work, I believe your marriage can become a source of deep joy and satisfaction. When reconciliation is not possible, I would be honoured to journey down a path of healing with you.

I offer a free 30-minute consultation so you can learn what to expect and feel if I’m a good fit for you. It’s important for both partners to attend this first session. Together we’ll come up with a plan and our goals. We can adjust these as necessary through the process.

I have Level 1 training in the Gottman method, so couples can decide whether they would like to complete an online marriage assessment developed by relationship experts, John and Julie Gottman. This assessment saves time in the counselling room and helps us get to the heart of your struggles.

Usually both partners meet with me for 90 minutes per session. There may be times I meet with one partner, depending on the issues brought forward and whether both partners agree.

Sometimes only one partner is open to participate in counselling. The good news is counselling can still help you. Your job is not to change your partner, but to become healthier yourself and take responsibility for your part in the relationship.

These are some of the topics couples explore in counselling:
